Fann Contracting, Inc., through its Fann Employees Making A Difference (FEMAD) Program, in 2021 donated more than $78,000 to charities in the Greater Prescott area.

Fifteen years ago, when Fann Contracting CEO Mike Fann launched a new charitable giving program, FEMAD, his goal was simply to encourage his employees to join him in giving back to their local communities.

Every employee who signs up to join FEMAD selects the contribution amount that he or she wants to give and can choose either weekly payroll deductions or a one-time deduction from a single paycheck. FEMAD participants even determine how their individual contributions are disbursed; an employee can choose to give that donation to only one charity or split the total among several or all six nonprofits on the list.

Local nonprofits awarded with 2021 FEMAD contributions included: Catholic Charities Community Services, Coalition for Compassion and Justice, Prevent Child Abuse/Yavapai Family Advocacy Center, Stepping Stones Agencies, Polara Health (formerly West Yavapai Guidance Clinic, Inc.), and YEI!/Prescott Charities.

“When we developed this company-wide initiative, we knew it would be rewarding for our employees to participate in our charitable causes,” said Fann, whose family business matches every employee contribution dollar-for-dollar. “It truly is amazing, year after year, how Fann employees have stepped-up to help some of the best nonprofits in our community.

“I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of people who share our passion about our community and give back to those who are less fortunate. We are also proud to have employees from Fann Environmental LLC, our subsidiary, supporting the program through their ongoing participation.”

Jarod Brooks, veteran services program manager for Catholic Charities, stated: “Donations we receive from generous individuals and organizations really help us to see to the needs of our clients where our contracts leave gaps. The dollars we received from (FEMAD’s) generous donations help to shore up our clients’ housing stability.

“On a personal note, I think it is awesome to see private people and companies step up to help their fellow man. I am convinced that if all companies stepped up and did what they could to help the people around them, an incredible amount of real, long-lasting good would be accomplished. Thank you and your employees for being such awesome examples to the other people, agencies, and companies with our community!”

Adding the 2021 FEMAD contributions to the 15-year total, brings the program’s grand total to $750,301 gifted to local area charitable groups.

Fann Contracting and Fann Environmental’s FEMAD participants actively support local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in an effort to make a difference to Prescott and surrounding communities in Yavapai County.
